FCT Minister Courtesy visit To Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Limited
The Hon. Minister of Federal Capital Territory Minister of State Muhammad Musa Bello paid a courtesy visit to Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Limited on 18th April 2017. This was in company of the FCTA Permanent Secretary, Dr Babatope Ajakaiye, Ag Chairman Abuja Investment Company Limited among others .
The Minister had an extensive closed door meeting with the Management Team of AUMTCO, afterwards proceeded to inspect the various departments and had direct interaction with Staff to get first hand information about the operations and understand challenges facing the company.
In the opening address by Ag.MD, Mr Eddie Ajon, He appreciate the Hon. Minister of FCT for the visit and the assistance towards the smooth operation for past 2 years in which the company have never experience in the last 15 years. He told the minister that the present number of the staff are 562 and has operational terminal in Karu, Gwagwalada,Zuba, mpape and area 1. He further explained some of the challenges presently facing amongs ; Lack of infrastructural facilities eg. Terminal, Bus stops, BRT line and the activities of unpainted taxis.
The Minister affirms his commitment to ensure enforcement of unlicensed Taxis and Buses are eradicated off FCT. He asked the Transport secretariat to work with FCT Security department for effective compliance and the remover of all unlicensed taxis in the road. He advised the management to be effective in all their activities and to observe the rules and regulation of the company. Also, that the management should ensure strict compliance with the standard Financial Reporting Format and due process management and to reduce the leakages in operation.
